Sometimes I Feel Like a Sad Song

Hey Everybody,

Just wanted to pop in and let you know we made it back from our Vegas vacation safe and sound. Our wallets are a little lighter and we're suffering from an intense case of jet lag, but we had a fun time.

To those of you who left such lovely, thoughtful comments on my posts while I was gone,  thank you from the bottom of my heart.  I checked in several times a day from my IPhone, and I can't tell you how much your kind words mean to me!  Thanks!

I'm fighting a little bit of the "Post Vacation Blues" at the moment.  Alan had to rush right back out of town on business very shortly after we arrived home, so I'm sitting here with an intense case of The Blahs.  I don't seem to be feeling especially inspired to write anything very worthwhile, so I've decided to stop fighting it and just put down my writing quill for a few days.   I promise not to be gone long.

I found this old John Denver song that I like to pull out every once in a while when I'm stuck in a particular funk like this.  I decided to share it, in case you may be feeling the same way!  Hope you like it...

ugh, I always get the post-vacay blues. Is it almost time for me to go on another one? Hope so.

glad you're back.

thanks for sharing the song. I haven't ever heard it before (which is surprising since my sis was a JD freak growing up) =)

Returning from vacation requires a few days of vacation simply to readjust! Glad you had fun! Hope you bounce back quickly!

Sorry about the blahs! Not unusual after a fun vacation though. It sucks to go back to work.

Some days are just like that...nothing to do for it! Maybe it's our creative brains needing a vacation. Don't fight it--it will leave as quickly as it came, and you'll feel like inspiring us with your wonderful stories once again!

Watch a wonderful old movie and just relax--that always helps me!

It always takes me a week or so to get back to normal after a vacation. I think that's kind of normal for most people.

Loved the video...I've been a big John Denver fan since I was a little kid.

I have a weakness for John Denver. Thank you for sharing. You will get back into the swing of things pretty quickly.

It took me three weeks to get back into the swing after our January camping holiday. I hated every single second of being back in my routine - and it's not even that BAD a routine!!

Oh, come now, nobody misses Las Vegas. You miss the free time, the meals, the distractions. Go ahead, give yourself a stay-vacation with the same benefits.

Welcome back!

PHD...post-holiday depression. Happens to the best of us.

The last time I donated Las Vegas any of my hard earned money was back in 1979. Prior to 1979 I probably helped Vegas build half their casinos. You would think they could of at least name one after me!

I always, always get the blues when I return from the highly anticipated get a way. Seems to go by to fast! To ease it this year I've planned several two to three day trips here and there so I can overhaul on the need for "real life" time :)

Glad you guys returned safe and sound!

(LOVE the song ;)

Oh my Lord. My son had a John Denver concert this month at his school. To bad you can't be here so he can chase your blahs away with his rendition of Country Roads, or Thank God I'm a Country Boy. Priceless!

Glad you made it home safe and sound. We had so much fun on our vacation too that I am ready to pack back up and go somewhere again!!! Too bad you didn't win a BIG jackpot. Then you could vacation all you want! See ya when you return.♥

Vacations are usually so much fun and such an escape that it's often really tough coming back. I always like coming back home, but I'm ready to go soon after. I still don't think I'm totally over my Christmas vacation.
For some reason, I can't access these blog videos anymore--I wish I could figure this out cause I like seeing them.

Glad you are home safe!

Post vacation blues are the worst. They are equally as bad as the "I need to travel now otherwise I will scratch out my own eyeballs rage" which is what I am currently suffering from.

What a shame you didn't return from Vegas with a heavier wallet ;) . I totally understand the blahs :( I hope your hiatus is not too long. I have also given you some blog love at my blog :)

It can be so hard to come back from Vaca! I'm glad you had fun...whenever I need an upper, I just plan the next fun thing...like a fun dinner or something when your hubby gets home. It makes life exciting if you spice up the ordinary a little. =)

Hang in there, it'll get better.

It was kind of fun thinking of you and Alan having a blast while you were out here (close enough, anyway).

And lastly, I love John Denver.

Vegas is so fun, glad you enjoyed your holiday. It's hard to adjust getting back into your routine when you've played all day. I hope you're out of the blahs soon. Love John Denver.

Joan! You know sometimes, when i first found your blog, i wondered whether my comments would matter to you in this happy bunch of others, but i'm so glad to read you say, you actually check several times.

I've never heard that song, but it soothed me in a way i needed something to. Your blog in all honesty is like a daily dose of healing to me. I promise there is no flattery involved when i say that. So keep writing :)

I love that song. Sorry you have the blahs. Real life is so much less fun sometimes! Hugs and welcome back!

Well, I'm comforted to see I'm not the only one who has a hard time writing when things are just, well, sad. I'm glad you had a great vacation! I'm just now getting back to even READING blogs. Everything has just been painful, but I just realized in the last couple of days . . . it hurts a little less. And whats more, I miss writing. So to kick start myself, I picked up where I left off on your blog 3 weeks ago and read all of your entries (most of which I have read because I realized I AM one of the people who has read this, I believe, since day one!) Thanks for constantly being an inspiration to me : )
